This is a step by step guide on creating an image only in black and white while still giving it a grayscale look.
First, create a new photoshop file. Tip: Copy an image onto your clipboard so you can choose the clipboard preset which will match your image size.
Now past in your image using either Ctrl+V (cmd+V for mac) or by clicking Edit > Paste.
Now you need to put your image into grayscale, so click on Image > Mode > Grayscale.
A warning message will come up, select Flatten.
Another warning message will come up, select Discard.
Your image should now be in grayscale like the one below.
Now to make the image in halftone, choose Image > Mode > Bitmap...
On the Method section, make sure you select Use: Halftone Screen... Then click ok.
Frequency is a bit of a trial and error system, you may need to keep going back to change it. I used a frequency of 3 lines/inch which worked fine for me. The Shape needs to be selected on Round.
And you have your final image.
