First of all, you start with the IDEA. This is the rough idea of what the production is going to be about. At this point, the producer will think about taking people on board. Most of the time the producer has someone in mind to write for them, so they will commission them. Other times the idea can come from a freelance writer submitting their idea (most likely as a script).
The next part is the SYNOPSIS, also known as the plot. This is going into more depth of the idea. Adding twists and side stories.
After the synopsis comes the SCENE BY SCENE BREAKDOWN. The synopsis gets broken down into scenes and what happens in those scenes.
At this point, bookings start to take place, booking the locations, television schedule, equipment and people.
Now comes the SCRIPT DRAFTS. The director is now taken on board and drafts of the script are made. This then develops into a final draft ready for upcoming events.
CASTING then takes place, either getting someone specific to play the part or auditioning other actors/actresses.
The last part of the preproduction is the READTHROUGH. This is going through the script with all the cast to make sure everything is ok and makes sense. Any fiinal changes can be made here.
The production is the FILMING. This can take the longest time. This is the most expensive part of the whole production.
After filming is done, EDITING and PUBLICITY begin. Creating awareness of the movie to the public starts quite early, but the official announcements start once filming is over. Editing the trailer and the movie begin while the director whatches over.
The final stage is the TRANSMISSION SCREENING. The final edit is put onto a portable media and transported across the world for the public to see.
