Celtx: Getting Started – Useful Tools – Saving & Exporting your Scripts

First, you will need to start the Celtx program by clicking on the clapper board icon.

You will then be presented with the following screen:
When starting out, it may be easier to start with a project template, such as the Film template.

Make sure your first set of text is formatted as the scene heading.

The scene heading needs to start with either "EXT." or "INT." to show if it's an exterior shot, or interior.
This then follows with the location (e.g. KITCHEN) and a hyphen ("-") and the time. (e.g. DAY).

The next part is the action. Make sure it is in the format for action, and characters need to be in upper case.

The name of the character who will say the dialogue, the format should automatically centre the text and also put the name in upper case.

At the end of the scene, you need to give an idea what comes next for organisation. An example for the last scene would be to cut to credits.
You can also "FADE TO:".

To save, click "File">"Save Project".

Name your project, then click "Save".

You can also export your script as a "PDF". This is done by selecting the "TypeSet/PDF" tab at the bottom.

Then click "Save PDF".

Finally name the script and click "Save".
