Radio Drama Evaluation

Personal Strengths and Weaknesses
I thought this project was really good, because I could use a lot of my technical skills. The radio drama only required recording in a studio and getting sound effects, there was no set or location, time of the day etc. Script writing and the planning of the story was a bit of a downfall for me. Also, at the moment I’m trying to get more into sound, so this was pretty good to work on.

Group Pros + Cons
Working in a group for this project went extremely well with the exception of a few minor problems. Having Andrew as the main scriptwriter helped make the script a great piece of work. Our group was good; we all had a bit of expertise in different areas. I have a background in the technical side, so I could work more on the technical side of the recording. We did have a minor problem at one point where the script was left on a team members laptop, and none of us thought to get a digital copy of it. Luckily, the witty Mr Sharp remembered a lot of the script, and redeveloped it on another laptop.

Development of Project
We built up the initial idea for the radio drama to be an ‘intergalactic booty hunter’, this carried on with the idea of the main character being a Sheriff shutting down brothels. We worked on the script and started building up character profiles. Once we had the main

How you created sound effects
Initially, we created sound effects by using a Zoom H1 to record. We recorded footsteps, doors slamming, and slapping someone’s face. When I got home to edit, I realized I was missing a sound of putting a DVD inside a DVD player, so I swiftly grabbed my Sennheiser E845 and recorded putting a disc in my PlayStation. I also needed a hoover sound, I managed to find one online, but it was just a constant hoover on sound, so I decided to bring it into audition and keep panning it left to right to left etc. to make it sound like it was moving.

Conclusion of end project-WWYD differently
I would probably make sure I have copies of the script after any major work has been done, just incase someone else has it on their computer.
